“AMA Day” Activity: Continuing the Ideals of Asia Masters Athletics (AMA) for the Well-being of Southern Community Networks

On July 6, 2025, Mr. Wiwat Vikranadnoros, President of the Asia Masters Athletics (AMA), presided over the opening ceremony of the “AMA Day” event. Also in attendance were Mr. Jetsakul Petsakul, Deputy Mayor of Hat Yai City Municipality; Asst. Prof. Permsak Suriyachan, President of the Thailand Masters Athletics Association; Pol. Col. Sawai Phichayaporn, Chairman of the event; along with honored guests.

The event, titled “AMA Day: Continuing the Ideals of Asia Masters Athletics (AMA) for the Well-being of Southern Community Networks,” aimed to promote a positive attitude towards exercise and sports among the public and the southern elder network. It encouraged sustainable healthy lifestyles, the dissemination of correct physical activity knowledge, and stronger physical health. The goal was to create positive experiences and instill a love of physical activity and sports among the elderly and communities, allowing participants to incorporate these habits into their daily lives and expand the impact further.

This event was a collaborative effort between the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth), Southern Health Network, Asia Masters Athletics (AMA), Thailand Masters Athletics Association, Hat Yai City Municipality, government agencies, private sectors, and health-conscious citizens.

Over 600 participants joined in the walk-and-run activity at Hat Yai Municipal Park. Other highlights included:

  • Physical fitness assessments conducted by the Sports Science Division of the Sports Authority of Thailand

  • The “Youth Health Lovers Dance Performance” by Wat Khuan Niang School

  • The “Elderly Aura Line Dance for Health” from the Hat Yai Subdistrict Community

  • A lively rhythm dance titled “Vibrant Seniors, Full of Life” by the Nathawi District Community

  • A health talk on elderly healthcare

The event garnered widespread interest from health network leaders and resulted in meaningful outcomes and sustainable benefits for the community. It was held at the Water Pavilion, Hat Yai Municipal Park, Songkhla Province.
